Nobody remembers that it is Mikey's birthday, so to cheer him up, the gang throws a surprise party for him, but to no avail (which Lily relishes in).
Ozu, who realizes that Mikey doesn't have a father figure in Japan, proposes that he be his son for a weekend, and they go on a boating trip that immediately goes awry, stranding them in the middle of an ocean.
In the subplot, Gonard and Guano discover a lost baby bird, and experience parental difficulties as they try to teach it to fly.
